Turn a compliment into a sale

Dear Reader,

Many artists tell me that they have gotten lovely compliments about their work at a gallery show or art fair, but that it never leads to a sale.

Here's how you bridge that gap:

What leads to a sale is the follow up. For example, many people will buy after the fair is over.

However, that can only happen if you get their email at the fair. I recommend pen and paper, as some people get intimidated by QR codes. This ensures at the fair is not the first and last time they talk to you.

Many people need to be exposed to you work at least a few times before they start thinking about buying. Every email you send is a touch point that makes that possible.

Email is hands down where sales happen, (across all industries, not just for artists) yet the vast majority of artists don't have an email list.

I work closely with artists in Art Club on making $ from their art. I see artists investing so much time into things that don't matter, and not doing what actually gets results. You'll cut your time in half, and see increased sales with our expert guidance.

Art Club enrollment opens Sunday Sept 6. We have already accepted 5 members, and there are 30 spots. I recommend applying now so that the doors don't close on you.

xoxo Prof Lieu

Dear Reader, Art Club doesn't open until Sept 6, but I noticed you were looking for support with galleries. I wanted to give you early access to this recording of the Secrets to Art Galleries workshop we did a ways back. (you get access to all workshops in Art Club) And if you have questions about connecting to galleries, your portfolio, or your timeline, just reply. I read every email and I'm happy to point you in the right direction. xoxo Prof Lieu P.S. And if you're not sure whether it's...

Dear Reader, Growing up in the 80's, I had a World Book Encyclopedia, which was practically my entire world when it came to looking things up. I still have a vivid memory of seeing this Marisol piece which was in the S volume, under sculpture. I remember thinking how creepy it was that the mom figure had no eyes. If I look up Marisol today, it's this avalanche of information. Which is amazing because of the accessibility, but lately I've been feeling like I don't need more information? I...

My art is as important as the air I breathe." @kenblakemore_abstact_artwork "I am going to be 64 this year and I have been an artist as...
